Tesla and Vestas Wind Systems have formed a partnership to find a way to effectively combine wind turbines with battery-based storage, Bloomberg reported.
Vestas had previously announced it would focus on integrating energy storage with its wind power back in April. In addition to the Tesla partnership, Vestas is working with other battery manufacturers on 10 different projects. Vestas began experimenting with wind turbines and batteries in 2012.
“Across a number of projects, Vestas is working with different energy storage technologies with specialized companies, including Tesla, to explore and test how wind turbines and energy storage can work together in sustainable energy solutions that can lower the cost of energy,” Vestas said in a statement provided to Bloomberg.
